Metal Monday: Local metal fest ‘Align the Nine’ returns to the Outpost

In light of this year’s concert season being truly underway, I’ve been using Metal Monday to make sure you all know about some of the most kick-ass national bands and tours tearing through Ohio this summer; but there’s also plenty of local bands worthy of your attention as well. One show in particular — chock full of local groups — is bringing the pain to The Outpost for a repeat performance: Align the Nine Part 2.
You may be wondering what the significance of the “nine” is, but your guess is as good as mine. Next week’s show — which begins a little before 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 2 — is a repeat concert of an Outpost show from earlier this spring on a Friday the 13th in April (hence what I assume is the Jason reference in the promo pic), which likely featured nine bands. This time around, there are 10 bands on the bill, so lets just consider ourselves lucky for the bonus! The group of new and old faces, which are all based around the Kent and Akron area, includes: NDE, Burn Blue Sky, RUE, Fully Consumed, The Unclean, Ravenna Arsenal, Red Water Tragedy, Ichabod Crane, First Cop, and Foul Spirits.
Doors open at 5 p.m. a week from Saturday, the first band will go on around 5:50 p.m. and the show lasts until 1 a.m. Advance tickets are just $10, so even paired with the cost of your drinks, that’s a reasonably priced night of metal. So get out and show some support for those local bands!
