DJ Shadow Dropping New Album
It has been five years since DJ Shadow released his last full-length album, The Outsider. But he hasn’t exactly been under the radar like some artists who have this long of a hiatus. You could have caught him at many festivals these past few years, or maybe you played the extinct franchise, DJ Hero, which he supported.
Or even better, maybe you saw him recently play a venue in the Shadowsphere, a big revolving orb that features 3D projections along with many other visual effects. Either way you’ve probably heard about him lately. But I’m sure many fans have been waiting to hear the news that he will be releasing another full-length album on Sept. 27.
The fourth solo LP will be titled The Less You Know, The Better, and it will be released on Verve. The album will feature collaborations with Talib Kweli, De La Soul’s Posdnuos, Little Dragon, Afrikan Boy and Tom Vek. You can expect to hear all types of different sounds including dark, abstract, pop and psychadelic.
In a recent interview with Pitchfork.com, DJ Shadow spoke about the meaning behind the album title. Let me tell you, it wasn’t what I expected. He spoke about how he was stuck overnight in some airport terminal in Dallas, and CNN and Fox were blasting his brain out for no reason. And he just thought to himself, “Who asked for this?”
I have felt that same way. Sometimes the less you know about that stuff the better. But anyways, check out this new track from the album titled “I’m Excited” featuring Afrikan Boy.
